Integrative Psychotherapy

About
Welcome.

I'm Jonathan.

I am an integrative psychotherapist with specialist training in Transactional Analysis.

This means I work relationally and collaboratively, tailoring therapy to you as an individual rather than using a one-size-fits-all model.

Transactional Analysis provides a clear and accessible framework for understanding how early experiences shape our beliefs, behaviours, and relationships. Integrated with other therapeutic approaches, it allows us to explore both what is happening in your life now and why these patterns may have developed.

I believe that therapy works best when it is grounded in a safe, respectful relationship. I aim to offer a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported, while also being gently challenged when helpful.

I am accredited by the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I work in line with professional and ethical standards, including ongoing supervision and continuing professional development.

I am based in Brighton and Hove, and I work with clients throughout the UK as well as internationally.

Psychotherapy can be different things for different people.  For some it can offer emotional support during a time of stress or a difficult period in life, such as the end of a relationship or a bereavement.

For other people it can be an opportunity to explore the past and how this has impacted them and their present. Others may want to explore feelings and processes they experience, but don't understand or would like to change.

My approach is:

  • Integrative – drawing on Transactional Analysis alongside other therapeutic models to meet your needs
  • Relational – valuing the therapeutic relationship as central to change
  • Collaborative – we work together at your pace, with your goals in mind
  • Reflective and practical – supporting insight while also focusing on real-life change

Transactional Analysis helps us explore:

  • Patterns in relationships and communication
  • How early experiences influence present-day beliefs and behaviours
  • Inner conflicts, self-criticism, and emotional regulation
  • Autonomy, boundaries, and self-awareness

I work with adults with a range of experiences, including:

  • Anxiety and stress
  • Low mood or depression
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Low self-esteem or self-criticism
  • Life transitions and identity questions
  • Childhood or relational trauma
  • Feeling stuck or disconnected
  • Neurodiversity
  • Insomnia

You don’t need to have a clear “problem” for therapy to be beneficial — curiosity about yourself and your patterns is enough.

Sessions are a confidential, non-judgemental space where we explore your experiences together.

We may look at your current challenges, past experiences, and the ways you relate to others and to yourself.

My role is not to give advice, but to help you develop insight, emotional understanding, and new choices — supporting you to move towards a more fulfilling way of living.

Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially if you’re unsure what to expect.

I welcome initial enquiries and am happy to answer questions or arrange an initial session so we can explore whether working together feels right for you.

I offer one to one therapy online and in person.

I also offer walk and talk therapy where we meet outside in nature. This can be in a park, in the countryside or on the beach for example.

We can also agree to combine these options.

I offer short term therapy as well as long term open ended arrangements.

Sessions last 50 minutes and we will normally meet once a week.

In the first instance we will arrange a 30 minute video call to talk about what you are looking for and decide whether we would like to work together.
This is free of charge.

I operate a sliding scale of charges according to what you can afford.

Please get in touch regarding fees and I will invite you to choose a payment level that is appropriate for you.
